Cheap Makeup Deals

Hi Dumplings,

         I have gathered together a collection of good quality cheap makeup a.k.a. beauty bargains! BTW this stuff is all from cruelty free cosmetics companies because that's the way I roll. Sometimes when you buy inexpensive cosmetics it's a big womp womp, but I have been testing and using these super cheap makeup and its ah-mazing.

         Actually the first thing is a brush. It's hard to find cheap good quality brushes, but this little shader brush from e.l.f. is wonderful. I can't believe it's only a dollar. Seriously, I've herd people talk about this one, but I was skeptical. I thought it was going to be a flimsy scratchy mess. It deposits just the right amount of color for me, and isn't rough on my precious eye lids. It's also pretty tough. I've washed it several times and it's held together without shedding.

         We'll keep on this eye shadow kick and I will talk about this trio from wet n wild cosmetics. If you haven't tried any of there color icon eye shadow trio's I' assuming you've been living in a cave somewhere lol. They are really good quality. This one in silent treatment has a beautiful shimmery taupey greige color, a sparkly charcoal, and a soft peach with a slight sheen. Uhhhggggg buttery smooth, pigmented, bendable, versatile. . . . I use these colors together and incorporate them into other looks.

 
         Okay let's play this wet n wild thing out a little more. The just reformatted their silk finish lipsticks. I love them so much. I have 3 colors. They are so comfortable and the most moisturizing ever. The pigmentation is on point and I cant believe they're only 99 cents!!!!! The finish is glossy and shimmery. This color is  nouveau pink

 
         Speaking of lipstick, I just fell in love with the la girl glazed liquid lipsticks. Firstly they are straight up dupes for occ lip tars. They are really long wearing, pigmented like crazy, and under $3. They also come in lots of colors. I've never tried anything from la girl before, but this is a great first impression. This Color is bombshell.

           Lets talk primers. The first one is by hard candy sheer envy. They have a few versions of this, but I have the original. It is just a nice basic silicone based primer. It does a good job filling in nooks and crannies, it makes your skin matte and baby smooth, and keeps makeup looking good. I used to use the tarte poreless primer, but I like this one much better. It works the same, but doesn't feel heavy. The only downfall is that you can only get it at walmart.

           Last but not least another wet n wild product. I can't help it they've got good stuff lol. This product is their intuitive blend foundation. he idea of this stuff is that it starts out white and these little beads of color break down and open. The pigment is supposed to blend and match with your skin to create the perfect shade. This stuff does not work well as a foundation. The coverage is really bad. However it works amazingly as a primer. It is silky soft, and creates a great base with a natural sheen. I absolutely love it.

Makeup That Broke My Heart

Hello Dumplings,

I actually was going to blog about something entirely different today, but as I was going through my makeup collection gathering products I started to think all the makeup brands that I used to love. I have ranted and blogged about this stuff in the past, but this post is a bit different.


I am speaking of once cruelty free companies that have sold themselves out to companies that test on animals. Over the last few years I lost them one by one. They claim that even though they are owned by companies that test they will not. It's okay if you still consider them cruelty free. I don't want to judge, but I feel it shows poor morals. How can you care about animals if you're partnering with companies that don't?


For a long time I was really angry at these companies. I felt betrayed. I invested hundreds of dollars in them. And I honestly really liked a lot of the products. I really don't understand animal testing in this day and age anyway. So many companies don't do it. I kinda feel that the ones that do are just sick bastards who want to hurt animals.

A few months ago my makeup got contaminated and I had to throw out more than half of my collection. It really changed the way I felt about makeup. I used to be obsessed with it, always hunting down the next palette of lipstick to try. Now I have some things I like, I know what works for me, and I know what I like.

Here's the hard part, what the hell do I do about the makeup I own from those companies I mentioned. I don't want to use it on my channel or blog about it because I don't want to give them more attention. I don't want to throw it out because I spent a lot of money on it, and I feel guilty when I use it. I feel more guilty because I love it. It just sits there in my collection. It's kind of like having a jerky boyfriend who is really good in bed. You get pleasure but feel crappy afterwards. And then imagine him just sitting in your house staring at you!

I love making tutorials and review videos. I enjoy beauty blogging but at times like this I feel like it would be so easy to walk away from it all. I haven't made a beauty video in months because my space is in transition. I am hoping for a second wind.

Best Fuchsia Lipstick For Spring

     I think a good old standard fuchsia is the best lip color for spring. Not only is it a fun pop of color, but it's very face brightening.I have gathered a collection of fuchsia lip products that I love. I've got everything from drugstore to luxury, and all cruelty free lipstick

Milani,Wet N Wild,Too Faced,Lip Tar,LA Girl

   

Nouvaeu Pink Wet N Wild silk finish .99
    I will start with the lease expensive of them all. At only 99 cents this lippie is a steal! I have a lot of wet n wild lipstick but, I am making it a mission to get a bunch more of these. Nouvaeu Pink is a classic medium bright pink. This lipstick is very moisturizing, and feels great on the lips. It has a glossy finish. Side note, not a fan of the packaging. It's a bit flimsy.

LA Girl Glazed Lip Paint Liquid Lip Color in Bombshell $4
    I am crazy about these! I will be doing a full on review, but this is a sneak peek. Bombshell is a classic pink fuchsia. The formula is very similar to Occ Lip Tar. It is also a really long wearing lip color. It goes on glossy but leaves a velvety matte stain. It also has a slight minty flavor. Side note, the packaging makes these easier to apply than lip tars.

  .Milani Color Statement in Rose Hip $5.99
        I am a huge fan of Milani Cosmetics. There color statement lipsticks are amazing and they have a lot of great spring colors. They are crazy pigmented, and go on really smoothly. Rose hip is described as neon pink, but it's really fuchsia. I also love these because they smell like watermelon. They all have different finishes, but this one is creamy. Side note use a lip liner for an easier application.

Occ Lip Tar Anime $18
    Anime is a really fun fuchsia. If you love a bright pink lipstick this is your baby! These liquid lipsticks are tricky to apply, but they are worth the trouble. Long wearing, great pigmentation, minty scent, what's not to love. You can also mix and create new colors if you have other lip tars. They go on glossy, but leave a matte finish. Side note, they are worth every penny since a little goes a long way. You only need a drop!

Occ Anime

Too Faced Le Creme Fuchsia Sock $22
     The creme de la creme (corny), Seriously this baby is luxury. From the gilded tube to the sumptuous feel. If you need a good gift for a friend pick up one of these. This baby has decent pigmentation. Feels really comfortable on the lips and pops a pretty fuchsia punch. Super glossy finish and IMO the most wearable if you are afraid of bright. Side note, this is a sot tube. Don't leave it in your purse it will melt easily.

L.A. Color Jumbo Lip Pencil Set

Hello Dumplings,

       I love to review makeup. It's one of my favorite things to do, especially drugstore cosmetics because they are easier to splurge on. I found this cheap makeup set at my local dollar store. Being a sucker for jumbo lip pencils I had to pick it up. 5 pencils for $6 was a major steal. I don't really have anything else from La color cosmetics in my stash. I tried La color nail polishes a while ago and I wasn't to impressed. Drugstore makeup does improve over time so I thought I'd give em a try. I also like the fact that they are one of the available cruelty free cosmetic brands.

       Okay so lets talk about the chubby bastards! The set contains 6 colors which are not named( I hate that). Easy Dumplings, I will artfully make up names for you :) But first I want to talk about the overall texture, smell, pigmentation. . .

      They all have a matte finish, all but 2 (violet & Mauve) are extremely dry and not fun to apply. The pigmentation is fair at best. I had to apply several layers to get the color effect I did. The colors are what really drew me in to buying this lip set was the colors. I love a bright lip, and there were a lot of good looking colors. The worst thing about this set is the smell of the products. Omg I don't even know how to describe it. It smells like a cheap waxy lotion or soap. Almost like citronella. The smell goes away after a while but I don't like wondering what crappy ingredient is causing that smell. BTW they all have that smell. It was a HUGE turn off. Also the staying power is about an hour. I can really only recommend this set to people who are starting a new beauty blog, and are looking for cheap makeup sets to review.

Things To Consider Before Getting A Pixie Cut

Hello Dumplings,

          I have had my pixie for almost two years and feel pretty qualified to write this:) For years I wanted to get one but I was very nervous about such an extreme style. Would it look good? Could I style it? Would it make my face look fat? Here is all the advice I have to give about this subject. By the way it's worth mentioning I freakin love my pixie and I'm glad I took the plunge.

 Baby Steps

          If you've always had long hair a pixie might be too much of a shock to you. I suggest trying a bob or some long layers first. These styles are easier to grow out and less intimidating.

Do Your Homework

         Find out your face shape, google search pixie pics, ask friends you trust, keep things like hair type and texture in mind.

Celebrity Inspiration

        Find a celebrity that has a pixie you like. It's even better if they have a similar look and hair type as you. I took inspiration for my pixie from Gennifer Goodwin. I brought a pic of her to my stylist for reference. Also search youtube for hair-styling tutorials for your chosen style.

Time Management

        How much time do you spend on your hair now? A pixie needs to be sculpted and styled to give a cute shape and control cowlicks and fly aways. Mine takes about 5 to 10 minutes to style, but depending on the style this could take longer. Trust me when I say if you don't take the time to fix it it's gonna look jacked up:)

Growing Out Your Pixie

        Okay so this is the hardest part of having a pixie. You will go through many awkward stages of this process. Headbands,head scarves, bobby pins, and barrettes will be your best friend. If you can make it through this process without re-pixieing yourself you're a champ. This is part of the reason I've had mine for so long lol. A freshly cut pixie looks way cuter than a half grown out one. I am fond of change though so I've made the commitment to grow mine out, but I absolutely love my pixie and regret nothing.

BH Cosmetics Flirty Nail Set

Hi Dumplings,

          I was checking out the Leaping Bunny list of companies that don't test on animals. I discovered BH Cosmetics there and placed an order. You can check out the haul here! I am a nail polish junkie and I wanted to check out their formula. 15 mini's for 7 bucks and change wasn't a bad deal. I have to be honest I wasn't expecting much lol.

         Here's the skinny, They have 2 different sets to choose from. I got the Flirty set. First off the colors looked amazing! They were right up my alley. There was a good variety of colors and textures. The formula was a little this. It took an average of 2 to 3 coats to get an even coverage. TBH these polishes totally remind me of O.P.I. The colors, finishes, application, shine!!! I couldn't believe it. To get all of these minis for such a good price that perform so well, holy cow. Oh also they held up against chipping( I'm extremely tough on my nails) and they went 4 days without chipping. Buy it here!!

Dealing With Paranormal Activity

Hello Dumplings,

          It is one of my favorite times of year. Tonight on my radio show we are going to be talking about some spooky personal experiences and advice about how to handle yourself if you encounter the paranormal. Perhaps you believe, but even if you don't I hope you find this post entertaining:)

         Okay so when I say paranormal what I am speaking of is energy that is not attached to a living being( ghosts,demons,entities,spirits. . . ) I will be talking about my own personal experiences on tonight's show, but below I will list a few pointers to help you overcome your fears and take control of your life and or home.

        I wanted to address that I am not a medium and I do not speak with spirits. I choose to disconnect with any abilities that I might have. In my experiences it is a door once opened that is very difficult to close.

Don't open the door
 I know that it can be tempting to dabble with the idea of talking with the paranormal, especially this time of year. Most people open the door without even being aware of what they've done. Fooling around with friends trying to have a seance or play with a oija board. My advice is don't bother. If anyone in the group has a sensitivity to the paranormal and is un-aware, or if there is an overwhelming negative energy in the space you are at risk.

Don't trust what you can't see
  Opening the door to that world is like leaving the front door to your home wide open. Imagine all the random strangers that could enter your home with out your control.  It takes experts years to learn how to safe guard themselves from negative entities.  Beings with negative intent will try to manipulate you to gain your trust. They will pretend to be children,heroes,and even lost loved ones. letting your guard down gives them power, and that is what they desire. They thrive on negative energy like fear, anger,sadness, and anxiety. The stronger you feel these emotions the stronger they become.

Ignore, Ignore, Ignore
  Okay so your washing dishes and all of a sudden you get a creepy feeling, or see something weird. The best thing you could do is remain calm and just go about your business. Showing fear of curiosity will intensify the energy and strengthen the entity. Ignoring gives you power and strength.

Keep It Positive
  If you have activity in your home or office it is more important than ever to not give in to sadness,fear or anger. If you are having disputes with someone speak to them calmly. Don't leave things hanging, clear the air. Put on music that makes you happy. Be aware that the being might try to provoke things so learn to laugh it off. Also you can burn sage and bathe yourself in sea salt to remove negative energy. If you are religious use the power of prayer to help you and give you comfort. The trick is whatever you believe in will help you.

Okay so I tried that stuff and they are still here!!!
  Regroup with the others you live with, make sure everyone is following the above rules. If that is the case then you have two options you can bring in a expert(religious leader or medium). Do lots of research find someone that you can trust to help. Another option is for the least affected member of your group to take a stand. Speak firmly to the entity and ask it to leave. "You are not welcome here, please leave right now"). I suggested the person who was least affected to speak because they are the ones that the being has the least power over.

          Not all paranormal activity is bad, and sometimes it is just lingering energy that doesn't have a mind of it's own. If you have been happily living with paranormal activity then it's best to let things be. This post is more to serve as a warning and to help deal with an unpleasant situation.

Being Your Own Best Friend

Hello Dumplings,

      I have luckily been blessed with some wonderful best friends. I hope you have too. Friends can be your second family, and best support in times of need. Unfortunately not everyone has a crack team of besties they can count on. Usually these periods of time are temporary. In these times it is important to know that you can be your own best friend. We all have that inner instinct that guides us through our day. Sometimes we listen and sometimes we don't. If you develop a good and honest relationship with yourself you will feel more confident and self reliant. You will also notice your life moving in a better direction. I am going to give you a few tips to get you started:)

Get a diary or a journal
 This is where you can release your secrets,dreams,plans,ideas. . . . White in it every morning or evening when you are most peaceful. This is a place where you won't be judged so let loose. You never know what inspirational ideas you might discover.

Get an agenda
 This is to keep you on track. If you write it down you won't forget! Get an agenda that you can keep in your purse or bag. This is the first place where you become your best friend by remembering to take it with you and check it frequently lol.

Set goals and keep them
  These goals can be small at first. They should be reasonably attainable like organizing your purse or shredding old mail. You can gradually build up to more challenging goals. Making yourself stick to them is where the best friend part comes in. Achieving goals on a regular basis makes you feel accomplished and builds self esteem. Any movement forward is a step toward success, and is better than sitting still in sadness or chaos.

Be honest with yourself
  This sounds much more difficult than it is. We are all born with instincts and intuition.Whenever we feel torn about a decision big or small there is always that little voice that guides us. Most of the time we regret not listening to that little voice when things go wrong. You need to start honoring that intuition and trusting it to lead you through difficult decisions.

Don't beat yourself up
  We are often so much more harsh on ourselves than we need to be. That negativity builds up on a daily basis and eventually you think your the dumbest,fattest,ugliest. . . person on earth. It's important to acknowledge your mistakes, but there's a big difference between "I wish I would have done that differently" and "what else is knew? I always screw up!"

Know your limits
  It's important to be your own cheerleader and push yourself, but more importantly it's important to know your physical and emotional limits. Taking a break from hard work or defining your emotional boundaries with a friend or partner will keep you balanced and strong. Don't compete with others set goals that fit your abilities.

Do something nice for yourself.
  A deliberate kind act to yourself promotes self worth and is the bridge to accepting love from others. These kindnesses can be small daily things like getting your nails done,taking a bubble bath,or buying yourself flowers. The goal is to do something that feels good emotionally.

          We are usually all to eager to go out of our way for someone else but it is so important to be good to ourselves as well. A lot of my clients are baffled because they go out of their way for others,but don't get the same treatment back. We all teach others how to treat us because of the way treat ourselves. If you are experiencing\ this problem I hope these tips help.

Simple Self Esteem Builders

Hello My Dearest Dumplings,

          The daily struggle that most of us face. Sometimes it's easy and sometimes it's a heck of a lot more challenging. The truth is low self esteem is more than likely what's keeping you better relationships and job opportunities. Conquering the big bully inside us isn't as hard as you might think. I am going to lay out a few small ways that you can improve your self image every day. I have given these suggestions to many of my clients over the years and they have had positive results. These activities are designed to be done every day.

Write down 5 things you are grateful for. They don't have to be big, just things you are felling purely positive about.

Write down 5 things that you are good at. hey can be small and simple. It may be difficult for you to think of them at first, but they will come. Here are some examples to inspire you( good handwriting, posture,cook, good dog owner, organized. . .  you get the idea:)

Do something productive each day. Besides the daily things like going to work of feeding your kids. This is more of a personal goal to set and achieve for yourself. It's a physical manifestation of things moving in a positive direction in your life. Here are some ideas(organizing a drawer, dyeing your hair,painting your nails,learning a healthy new recipe,

Give something back. Sometimes it helps us feel better to be giving to others. You may not realize how valuable your skills might be to others. Donating time, money, and emotion for something you feel passionately about enriches your life on many levels. There is a delicate balance between giving and giving too much. It also may be hard to know where to start when you aren't used to giving or feeling passionately about anything.

Is Your Root Chakra Unbalanced?

Hello Dumplings,

     Are you feeling stuck or in a rut? Or are you feeling insecure, unstable, and out of place? Chances are this may be a symptom of your Root Chakra being unbalanced.

     Chakras are strong points of energy around your body that govern different functions including physical, mental, and emotional. If one or more of these are out of sync you will experience a combination of symptoms.

     The Root Chakra is the first chakra. It sits at the base of the spine. This chakra represents physical health, activity, and how one feels about their surroundings.

     When the Root Chakra is unbalanced you may feel the following:
       .in a rut
       .feeling out of place or insecure
       .back and or leg pain
       .digestive disorders

     The good news is that there are several ways to balance your Root Chakra.

     Firstly be honest with yourself. Are you happy with your home, relationship,job,physical health? Journal about what you are feeling, and what you want to strengthen or change. Becoming aware of your fears and issues is the first step toward balance.

     Get some exercise ! physical movement is crucial to balancing this chakra that represents movement and action. Go for a walk/run, play sports,do yoga, or play with your kids. Speaking of yoga the following poses are perfect for balancing the Root Chakra( the tree, the chair, and downward dog).

    Clean up your diet with a healthy detox program, incorporating fresh fruit and veggies will improve your mood and appearance. Find a healthy detox plan that works for you. I personally love juicing and smoothies.

Fashion Items I'm Lusting For

Hello My Dumplings,

          When I was younger I had a real passion for all things fashion. It has been years since I felt this park. While this is amazing for my self esteem, and creativity it's not so great for the wallet lol. I went spring clothes     shopping already so I need to cool it for a while, but these are some things I'm dying to add to my wardrobe :)

A Denim Jacket
   I'm not sure if I want one in denim or black. I just know I want one. I would love to wear it with maxi dresses and other outfits as a finishing touch. I just think they are so versatile

3 Inch Nude Pumps
   I really want these specifically to go with my beloved lipstick dress. I just think they would add a real polished look, and make my legs look taller.

Belts
  I am seriously lacking in belts :) I want a silver one in particular, but I'm also looking for other neutrals.

Chuncky Necklaces
 I can not wait to hit up clairs and forever 21 to stock up on inexpensive statement pieces.

Cute Affordable Wedges For Spring & Summer

          Let's get ready for summer. Wedges are the perfect shoe for spring and summer. You can take them from pin up to tribal and everything in between. Here is a selection of what I love.

Nautical Number- These would look so freakin cute with some denim shorts and a striped shirt. They're actually on sale so if you like em go get em.

Mint Cuties- I wish I had the confidence to wear these. I would pair these with a soft floral dress that hits the
knee.

Tribal Fun- This is a statement shoe. I would pair these with a black romper and some chunky silver jewelry.

The MVP- You can wear these with anything. They would look amazing with rolled cuff jeans and a blousey hi low coral shirt.

Green Goddess- I love this color. I would pair this with a little white dress and a denim jacket. I would also paint my nails a matching green color.

Vintage Preppy-OMG these shoes make me wanna go on a picnic. I would pair them with white shorts and a denim shirt. I could also see these with a cute coral sundress.
